Ear Irrigation (gently rinsing)
Ear irrigation offers several benefits, it can be effective in removing ear wax particularly when the wax is not fully impacted, additionally removing foreign objects. It uses a gentle jet of warm water into the ear canal, ensuring loose wax to be flushed out, a little like a jacuzzi in the ear. Not used if the eardrum is perforated.
Microsuction
Microsuction is a safe and effective earwax removal using gentle suction. This treatment does not involve water and is quick and painless, it can be noisy and may require the use of softening drops such as Earol prior to treatment.
Safe for existing perforated eardrums and grommets.
The benefits of ear cleaning and safely removing ear wax:
Using cotton buds can push the earwax further into the ear canal, possibly damaging the eardrum. Strongly advised not to use this method
